Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince – A Quick Review

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is the latest film in the Harry Potter series. I’m not going to lie to you, I went to see this film on the day that it came out. I expected it to be a pretty decent picture because I had read the book and I had enjoyed the previous movies. I’m not a huge fan of the Harry Potter series because I feel that it is for a younger audience and I’m in my later years but still.

Films today can be good, they can be bad, they can be ugly, but they are rarely a complete waste of time but somehow this particular Harry Potter film takes the cake. The entire film’s pacing was slow and monotonous. The acting was incredibly poor and sometimes I felt like half the actors on screen had forgotten their lines all at once. The plot line was weak to start with but sadly the interesting bits were taking place off camera for most of the movie.

There is something to say when the most interesting character doesn’t even appear on screen during the entire film. The main villain is no where to be seen in this film and when his henchman do appear they aren’t dastardly and they aren’t vicious. They don’t accomplish anything as far as instilling fear goes and often times they are just laughed at by the heroes until the end.

Don’t worry, I won’t spoil the end unless you want me to but you can take my word for it: it is far more uninteresting than you would expect. It happens to fast and none of the characters react to it. It just plain sucked.

Save your money and Netflix this Harry Potter film when it comes out on Blu Ray or DVD and I only advise doing that if you care about the Harry Potter series. If you aren’t a fan of the series don’t even bother with this one.
