That is an century-old question. I guess you could say cave men had it made. They believed in kidnapping & taking their date to a filthy cave out in the middle of who knows where.
Those were what was known as the good old days. These days, with both men and women wanting more out of relationships, first date destinations and plans are a little bit trickier. First, we’ll cover the places you should NEVER go to on a first date.
That old routine of dinner & a movie has come to be a really poor choice for a first date. How are you planning to get to know the woman sitting next to you if you’re in a darkened theater with a movie getting all the attention?
Let’s face it; if you choose the movie, there is probably going to be more than enough frantic car chases, boobs and a lot of blood involved; that’s just how most guys think. Neither are a good idea in creating a night to remember.
Also, NEVER take your date to your parent’s house! This gives the instant impression that you are a mamma’s boy and there’s a good chance you will never see her again.
Before we get off the don’ts, I have to suggest that you not take your date to hole-in-the-wall bar with a motel out back.
Chances are you will scare the poor woman to death. She just might jump out of the car & hitchhike back home believing that she would be safer with a groovy beard wearing truck driver than with you. That’s also how most scary movies begin but that’s another subject.
Now; some good ideas for a first date:
It’s good to begin with a simple lunch or coffee date; I myself like Starbucks or a Barnes & Nobles. Your goal is to keep the date casual; meeting up for lunch or coffee can get you off to a good start.
This gives way for if the date didn’t go as planned, you can end the date there but if you both enjoy each other’s company, the rest of the day is available to spend getting to know each other better.
Here are some quick ideas of where to go if you find a bit of chemistry during the lunch or coffee date:
If it is the season (meaning not freezing cold outside), an amusement park or a theme park is a good first date idea; might want to consider a zoo or an aquarium.
It doesn’t matter how old or young you are; we all have a little kid in us. There is so much you can do at amusement and theme parks. Most likely you’ll forget about all the pressures of a first date and just have some fun.
Most well populated cities have museums covering an array of subjects; I don’t suggest museums but do know they are there in-case you want to do something different.
Visiting one that’s dedicated to something you & your date have in common is another good first date idea and could set the scene for the 2nd date.
